Contemporary Art
Contemporary art can take many forms. When considering wall decor for one's home or office, one need not rely only on two-dimensional paintings, prints or lithographs which are beautiful as well. Three dimensional sculpture 
is an interesting way to add texture and movement to a space, particularly if the furnishings are streamlined, monochromatic or sparse.
Metal wall sculptures are contemporary pieces that can be small, inexpensive and simple, or completely the opposite. A metal sunburst, possibly in a copper or gold tone, gracing a breakfast nook can capture the morning sun and bring dimension and light to a small area with a warm feel.
On the other hand, a new trend in contemporary art is to have a triptych or a group of several flat metal panels tell a story on a large wall through etchings in brushed surfaces or by adding a finish to the carved piece leaving it with an antique finish. Some pieces incorporate several colors and tones such as gold, copper, amber and yellow which play off of one another in a textured relief.

Many paneled works do not tell a specific story, but set a mood or vision left to one's imagination. Many sets have eight or ten panels and can create an effect such as a window through which viewers opposite the pieces feel as though they are watching a sunrise or sunset. Track-lighting is a common feature to use when showcasing this type of contemporary art as the lights can be adjusted to spotlight the pieces in several ways creating multiple looks.
Another feature when selecting a metal piece is that although they appear heavy, the are often quite light and easy to move. Therefore, depending on the owners taste, switching pieces around as the seasons change can give the artwork a whole new look as natural light gives life to this type of work.
